Adding a third returner with a new kickoff rule being implemented that sometimes calls for two returners fielded simultaneously still feels very reasonable to me.

I also think Al Davis would have loved this one
Big Grin

kiss of death.

Not necessarily looking to fix, nor was I looking for quick solution. There was depth there. Right now we're one bonk to the noggin away from rolling out last year's line. That's what don't seem reasonable.

You don't take a guy in the fourth or fifth and expect them to be amazing out the gate. But dang if I wouldn't expect them to beat out a guy like Fortner or Shatley for that final spot on the line. Maybe I'm just not reasonable.

I gotta feeling that if you return well enough, teams will just resort to touchback and let their D handle the rest. I can get fast, not necessarily every down player on any PS across the league.

I hear you, and the concern is valid.

For the sake of perspective however, please consider this:

How many games has Morse missed from any one of those bonks on the head he's had that are so concerning?

As far as I can tell he's never had a serious concussion that kept him out for any extended period of games.
Why are we "catastrophizing" a sudden change in that history?

Let's pray that we don't see "last year's line" because that would mean at least 3 different left tackles, 4 different left guards, bringing back Ben Batch, and the "intended" starting unit never seeing the filed together until December.

Doug all but confirmed and said he'd like to get the starters out there for 2 quarters. Of course things change depending on certain things, but he'd like to see the starters out there for the 1st half.

Based on last year's preseason - the length of playing time will hinge on the success and longevity of their drives.
Once they've seen some efficiency from run and pass they could pull them, but if not, they could play a full half to get reps and tape to study.
