The family is a mess. Mother is supposedly in jail but don't know if that is true or not. The aunt says the kid was crying out for help and has faced abuse his own life. CPS has been involved with the family. The aunt helped get him enrolled back in school but lives out of state.

It's looking more and more like I read this one correctly and the kid was trying to get some adult to step in and help him. CPS didn't do it. The police interview was with dad there so doubt he would be open. Call to the school to warn them. Stopping immediately when the cop gets there. All the actions point to a terrible home life and most likely verbal abuse and potentially physical abuse.

The charging the dad is crossing lines I doubt most people will be willing to do. If you can prove negligence, you could charge as an accessory but not sure how they are going to charge him with murder or child endangerment. Liberals may think it's good to charge him but they probably won't when the same precedent starts applying to kids stealing, drunk driving and other driving accidents, and the gang shootings, etc.

It's a slippery slope for sure. Sounds like plenty of warning signs were there and this could have been prevented had somebody with more than one or two brain cells actually stepped up and took action.

I understand that parents can buy gifts for their children. But, a gun at 14? That's one hell of a gift. Still, the Dad should have had it locked up tighter than Ft. Knox. Especially if the abuse was present within the household.

My Dad spent $400 - $600 on really nice fishing rods and reels for me and my brothers growing up, a piece, and he took care of them well into our early adulthood until he knew we could handle them at home when we were done using them for the day or on weekends fishing around JAX.

My Dad has a Saw Zaw 40+ years old that he still uses today. It's just people really. If you take care of your family, your tools and possessions? And you raise your kids right with responsibility and exercise good judgement?

Dumb [BLEEP] like this wouldn't happen.
