Positives and Concerns in a loss vs Miami

#29

Positives:

  • BTJ - The 47 receiving yards and 1 touchdown doesn't do him justice.  He also drew a 40 yard pass interference penalty which set up the Jaguars only other touchdown of the game.  It gave the Jaguars a 1st and goal from the 1 yard line.  BTJ looks like he's going to be a great player for us.
  • Bigsby - He had 73 rushing yards today.  He only had 132 rushing yards all last season.  He also got these 73 rushing yards on only 12 carries.  That's a 6.1 yards per carry average.
  • Walker - Two sacks
  • Offensive Line - They exceeded my low expectations and thought they largely played well.
  • Cooke - Punted for a 51.8 average with half his punts being within the 20.
  • Little - He made a 53 yard kick that looked like it would have been good from much much farther out.

Concerns:
  • ETN - The fumble was a huge momentum changer.
  • Going for it on 4th Down - I thought this was a completely stupid decision.  Going for it on 4th down from your own 32 yard line when you have a 3 point lead!?!?!  The Dolphins' kicker did miss, but that doesn't make this mind-boggling decision any less concerning.
  • Kirk and Engram - They were targeted 8 times and only had 2 receptions between them.  I know not all throws were perfect and they had to deal with defenders, but those two players can't have a 25% catch rate if we want to win.
  • Second Half Offense - After scoring 17 points in the first half, the team didn't score a point in the second half.
  • Defense giving up big plays - The defense largely played well.  However, the 63 and 80 yard receptions were killers.
  • Defense getting worn out - Our defense definitely look tired and ineffective late in the game.
