Because good teams can plug in a guy to replace the best player in the League at the position and still get the same great results. If you plugged in the backup for Purdy the results would not be as good and you know this. It also helps a QB like Purdy to go to a team that's already successful as well, the 49rs haven't been anywhere near the dumpster fire the Jags were when Lawrence got here. Purdy would've been out of the League by now if he had come here instead of Lawrence. Purdy and Tom Brady are generational outliers in where they were drafted compared to their success, literally 22 years between the two with no one else like them in between. That's why your ignorance of statistics mars your analysis, you focus on outliers as if they are common when the evidence of history shows they are extremely rare.

To sum, running backs don't make bad teams good and good teams can pretty much use any running back. Good QBs can make bad teams competitive but bad QBs often ruin good teams. That's why QBs are worth the investment and running backs are not. Thus endeth the lesson.
