You've already got the little snide nickname going, so now that it's week 2 you can full throat your displeasure and start calling for his job. Because of what he says in a press conference...lol.No one gets fired over a press conference that’s ridiculous… But it all adds up. As a Head Coach and a QB in particular your public perception plays into how the fan base evaluates you as a leader. That’s true for anyone in position of leadership. They looked GREAT on Sunday. GREAT. They legitimately looked and it felt like they were in control of that game for a good 42:00 - 44:00 minutes of that football game. They looked in command, they had a few hiccups here and there, but, overall, they looked more fluid as an offense. The confidence was off the charts on defense, they were sealing up the running game, they were bending at the right time but not breaking too much at the wrong time. They were doing a lot of things right. Where they lost the game, and the alarms started going off, was when Etienne fumbled the football, proceeded by a massive TD pass to Hill to draw the lead down from 17 - 7 to 17 - 14, and then, when Doug panicked, had the offense out there on 4th down, waited for the break to come in, and then proceeded to go for it anyway. That's where the panic came in. It's not us panicking as a fanbase. It's the [BLEEP] coaching staff and roster panicking is what it feels like. We all see that. We all sense that. It happened clear as day on Sunday. I kept saying to myself after that sequence of events, "Call a timeout, pull the team over, pull the leaders over, settle them down, the crowd is back into it now, you need to rein them in, get back on track, get a gameplan going that will get you out of this hole and get the crowd back out of it". They didn't do that. Once that fumble happened, they collectively got themselves tied up on the ropes and proceeded to let this team beat them with little jabs here and there while they were still tied up on the ropes. They just couldn't mentally get themselves out of this funk. They couldn't figure it out. And this has been the theme now since their collapse last year and nobody wants to see that funk carrying over into this year. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king." |
