There was only one sustained drive by the Jags offense. 
The Jags couldn't get off the starting block offensively that half. 

Will BTJ become someone they look to (as much as they trust Kirk and Engram) to get drives started and to move the chains on 3rd and medium?  

Probably.

Is it understandable that they aren't there yet in week one of his rookie year? 

Yes. 

I bet if they didn't have 4 or 5 quickly stalled drives in the second half he'd have had targets. 

They doubled down on the run in the second half because it had been efficient in the first half and history tells us that often gets better, not worse, in the second half as the defense gets a bit gassed. 
That did not happen. The Jags run game became ineffective and they stuck with it too long instead of changing strategy. 

IMO, some of those first and second down runs from the second half may have been better off as passes, but there was also some garbage run blocking taking place as well that should have been better.
