I'd like to see him continue getting targets too, but let's look at the second half of that game...

There was only one sustained drive by the Jags offense.
The Jags couldn't get off the starting block offensively that half.

Will BTJ become someone they look to (as much as they trust Kirk and Engram) to get drives started and to move the chains on 3rd and medium?

Probably.

Is it understandable that they aren't there yet in week one of his rookie year?

Yes.

I bet if they didn't have 4 or 5 quickly stalled drives in the second half he'd have had targets.

They doubled down on the run in the second half because it had been efficient in the first half and history tells us that often gets better, not worse, in the second half as the defense gets a bit gassed.
That did not happen. The Jags run game became ineffective and they stuck with it too long instead of changing strategy.

IMO, some of those first and second down runs from the second half may have been better off as passes, but there was also some garbage run blocking taking place as well that should have been better.

Pick your poison I guess.

Run game was efficient on 1st and 10+ yards. Throughout the course of the game, it was not effective on any of the down and distances that were 3 yards or less. At any rate. I sound like a broken record on this topic.

All I know, is that, when you have a WR making $24M this year, a LT making $21M this year, a QB making $15M this year, a RG making $11M this year, a TE making $7M this year and then you signed a deep ball TD specialist that's making $4.7M this year and you drafted a guy that led the FBS in 17 TD's last year and had the 2nd fastest 40 time at the combine with his size?

You might want to figure out a way in balancing out your play calls to where the passing game feeds better off the running game. Especially when you know it's not effective, at any point in the game, on 3rd and 4th short yardage situations. I am at least glad to see that you see that, and that's where a lot of the frustration is coming from.

I know, I know. It's Week One, yadda, yadda, yadda. BUT... if we had won one of those very winnable games in September of last year? Especially against the Chiefs? We would have won the division and made it as a 4th seed at the very minimum. It's just frustrating. And while I can respect a lot of you having the ability to reserve said frustrations, we know it's there, lingering, just dying to boil over from the back burner.

We'll see. I just hope the play calling stays aggressive and they don't clam up like they did in Miami. Especially after a turnover. It just feels like sometimes this offense is encased in a fully body suit of plaster cast with just one little area that's always itching to be scratched, and just when you think they're working their way towards said itch?

They drop the [BLEEP] stick and leave you feeling teased. It's driving me insane man. I want to see this offense take off already. I want this team to win. I want them to kick [BLEEP] and chew bubble gum.
