So, did Manziel make Evans or Evans make Manziel?...

Quote:I was listening to some draft talk today and the host of the program was speaking about how in his opinion Manziel was overrated and wouldn't have been nearly the prospect he's seen as if not for having WR Mike Evans make so many plays over his career.
I don't think the question of "Who made who?" will ever be answered, because it's a stupid question. Neither guy "made" the other one. They are both first-round NFL talent who made each other better.
I think a far more telling question and one that we can actually answer confidently is "Who followed who to the NFL?"

Quote:<div>"He should be the clear-cut No. 1 pick, especially for the Texans,” Evans said. “He may just be the quarterback they’re looking for. He’s the best talent available.”

Evans also gave some insight into how both players made their decision to leave Texas A&M early with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

“If Johnny was leaving, I was going to leave,” Evans said. “I had a feeling he was going to leave. I discussed it with my family and Coach [Kevin] Sumlin. Coach said it was the best for me.

“[The decision was made] After the bowl game. We were roommates. I asked him what he was going to do. He told me. I based my decision off of that.”

IMO, if the radio-mouth was right, it should have been the other way around. It should be "that overrated A&M qb" who is talking about following the greatest WR in college football with all the accolades and heismans, into the NFL. But Evans, who I don't personally perceive to be a very humble guy, actually spoke quite humbly I think. I think both benefited from each other, but from every indication, it is clear that it was Manziel of the two of them that was steering the ship/leading the way. Both on the field, and into the NFL.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.
