ETN was open in the flat. But Trevor couldn't see it. Trevor stepped up to avoid Garrett, but he was trapped at that point. The other four each yielded too much space and trapped him, and they were blocking Trevor's view of ETN. From the snap, the only plausible winning moves were (1) Trevor runs right as soon as he has the ball, (2) Trevor runs forward (QB draw) as soon as he has the ball. Neither is great. (1) would require Cam to change his blocking angle and (2) would require center and guard to be aware so they could create a lane. And Trevor would have to know as well, of course.
It was the wrong play call, plain and simple. It was the wrong formation for the situation.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
