For sure, but it's counterintuitive when you expect coaches to put the team in a place to succeed.

Something as simple and plausible as a holding call would have given up the safety as well, since so much of the play was developing within the confines of the EZ. It was overwhelming risk with potential for reward. Considering how tenuous we often see this offense play, it was uncharacteristic, and not a surprise that we planted squarely on our face.

That's the offseason cure. You overdo that today and a guy blows a pec and ends up on IR or holding every down trying to compensate for their limited ability.

Because even with a better, under-center formation, even with a plan to roll the QB right, there's no accounting for a possible holding call.
Basically you shouldn't call that play in that spot if you can't afford to give up a safety there.  It should be the middle of the game, or you should be up by at least 5 points if not 9 before you consider that call in that spot.
