He's got the least amount of time to throw because the OL is not good. It's not the only factor but it's obviously the biggest and all objective data leads to that. I can't imagine being a football fan and not being able to easily conclude that this OL is trash and the biggest deficiency on offense. Football has and always will start with blocking. You are not comparing the same metrics. Time to throw is not the same as "highest average time between snap and throwing ball or receiving pressure" which is what you are giving. You would have to remove the bold as they are not the same thing, that's combining two different stats as I am only speaking about the OL protection regardless of QB. A useful stat for sure but would highlight how well (or how bad) Trevor gets the ball out in combination of OL protection not just focused on OL protection itself. I'll have to look at the stats this year but the previous two Trevor was among the best in the NFL at getting the ball out fast. As I've said he's horrible this year no arguments there. He is playing as a bottom tier QB and has earned a lot of blame. Hopefully he gets better he needs to improve majorly to state the obvious. I don't agree with no excuses however, he's got a valid reason for part of his poor play. OL protection is major contributor to QB play as football starts with blocking. It's not a fundamental problem that needs to be addressed, it's the problem to address first otherwise it doesn't really matter who they bring in or play. Every single play on offense depends on and builds off blocking. If the OL can't block at least okay enough, enough times in a game the QB and the rest simply can't function. You can have a HOFer at every skill position but if the OL opens up the floodgates it won't matter as you won't have time to throw it and you won't have the space to run anywhere. Trevor might be a problem to address as well but by nature of football and how the game works the first has got to get corrected. I agree there are no excuses for the fumbles/missing basic layup passes ect ect that is all Trevor. The OL is the chief reason for the dysfunction on offense |
