Who else is really underperforming outside of Trevor Lawrence? Who stepped up?

Lol.

I agree with your last statement.  I absolutely think Trent let Rouscher and Doug build the oline the way they wanted to and they use what scheme Rouscher wants to use.  Not a fan though.  We know Cleveland and Harrison is Rouscher's guys

The Cam Robinson extension came in an offseason when they lost three interior linemen to free agency, spent free agent money on WR x2, G, TE, DT, LB and drafted mostly defense and a bum Center. All were needed badly.

Keeping Cam around was a business decision in a year when they really didn't want to throw a 1st round pick or big money at Tackle. Cam's cap hit that first year was only 7 mil.

They gambled by focusing capital elsewhere and it has not been a winning bet.

I don't think they saw him as a scheme fit, but a player apparently respected in the locker room and "close enough" to the traits they desired at LT. Bad decision in the end.

I'd love to see the next regime install a run scheme that uses less zone and more power blocking with a revamped line with at least three big maulers
.
It would be nice but I just want the best lineman we can get and then fit the scheme around those guys.  I want a oline coach that can be flexible and adapt his scheme to the talent we aquire.  There are a number of oline coaches that have switched schemes.  There are a numer of successesful zone blocking and gap scheme blocking teams that don't get mauled and bullied the way we do.  The great lineman can play in any scheme and hopefully we get 1 or 2 of those guys in the next draft.
