i really disagree with this  but i don't think he is a leo so i can understand how drafting him at 3 could be seen as a bit of a reach just because of the value of olbs compared to pass rushing de's.

 

I would still take him at 3 if clowney was off the board and the jags didn't believe in a qb especially as I think you can pick up better value at wideout than watkins later in the draft

 

i think if mack is used as an olb in 3-4 or 4-3 he will be one of the top lbs in the nfl fo

his game is exceptionally polished and he shows good discipline. He can work against the right tackle if needed and shed blocks in the second level to stop the run whilst he is solid in coverage and has the speed and size to work against rbs and tight ends

 

I think you put him at olb next to poz and make the most of his run d and coverage skills and rush him situationally moving him around to keep the qb on his toes. I think he can get you a baseline of 5 or 6 sacks a year whilst being an instant improvement in your run d and pass protection.

 

Added i think he can do that straight away if he is used right and considering what bradley did with branch I would expect him to use mack in a similar way

 

Pass rushers take time to develop and i think in 2014 you will see clowney and especially barr start off slow. We saw lewan do well against clowney in college and left tackles in the nfl will be of that standard or higher.

 

 Both have the physical tools to be incredible pass rushers in the nfl but both are raw and don't have the same repetoire of pass rushing moves as mack has. They get by in college by being just physically better than everyone else.

 

on topic, Barr's closing speed is incredible, if you run a stretch to the right and leave him unblocked he has the speed to get into the back field whilst he has tenacity and a motor to match.

 

That being said he is really unrefined as a pass rusher and a defensive player due to play it for 2 years.

When rushing he is like a car driving into a wall. He attacks is pushed back, attacks again and again and again then the wall breaks and he zips in for the sack. I have seen him use a spin move which was as graceful as some bint on the dance floor at 2am holding an empty vodka bottle

 

He will not produce straight away and most definitely needs the dion jordan treatment of situational play and getting up to speed before starting but he has all the physical tools to be incredible with the right coaching.
