So here's a silly idea.

Late in the game, there was a short throw, hit a defender in the back. Bad, yes, I know.

But why in the heck aren't we getting our WR in the mindset to slow/stop your route, get completely bowled over by the pursuing DB and take the free yards via flag? That defender had zero clue where the ball was, and if the WR tries to come back to the ball it's the easiest yards we get all game.  You see so many other teams take advantage of that kind of mental lapse on D, but our guys just dejectedly sigh and return to the huddle.

Am I expecting too much?

He put so many balls right on his guys, they were just not on their game. And for some, that's their everyday state of being. It's tiring. I'm sure Trevor is equally frustrated when he's on the mark and the other guys are showing off hands of granite.

Yep, and imagine being the coach dialing up those plays only to see them sabotaged by 1. the 6th lineman twitching, 2. the receiver stone hands-ing the catch, 3. the TE getting the ball knocked out after a chunk gain, 4. the tackle getting blown up and the QB sacked. Then you get to hear everyone [BLEEP] about the fact that you aren't making those things not happen.
