There is a far cry from a 2-9 team and a playoff team.

You have it stuck in your brain that we are on the verge as long as we get a good HC. We aren't.

This team has very few players that would start on other teams. We need a couple of years to restock.

I believe the team can be competitive next year with the right coach and GM. With some luck (a mid round draft pick or two turn into dominant starters) they can be a top team.

The big problem the team has is they don't have enough dominant players in the trenches on either side of the ball. A couple of offensive linemen that win their matchups and a defensive tackle or two that does the same would have this team winning the afcs this season.

With good talent evaluation all three of those can come in next year's draft, especially since we'll be picking high in each round.
