When you hire coordinators and assistants who also suck, they can't place anyone in an interim position so it is what it is for the rest of the season.

That's the problem with firing Doug right now. We have no one that can even qualify as an intern.

I think we have more talent than our record shows. I think the main issue is that our offense doesn't fool anyone and our defensive line doesn't have the right personnel for a 4-3. We still have a NT that isn't quite athletic enough for a 4-3 DT and our other tackles for the most part are really a bit undersized and and better suited for a 3-4 DE. Our coverage scheme is man, but our interior is weak and doesn't create enough pressure to make man coverage effective. Plus some of our DBs aren't very good at man.

What I see is a team that makes too many mistakes. We are leaving too many people uncovered which makes it easy for QBs to find an open guy. An interior DL that can't fill gaps and we get run over.. Our oline and RBs that get confused on blocking assignments.

Our playbook is too simple on offense. What happened to all the plays we had a few years ago that we could fool coverage? We struggle on defense to get pressure up the middle on QBs, yet we blitz less than any team in the NFL.

It almost feels like we always running vanilla plays like we don't realize preseason is over.
