They start as a large group at the Southern border of Mexico, 2,000 miles from the US border.  Over time, after about 150 miles, a lot of people drop out, and the mass breaks up into smaller groups.  When they break into smaller groups, the Mexican government picks them up and buses them back to the Southern border.  This has been going on for about a year now.  

So Trump says "I'm going to impose a 25% tariff if the Mexicans don't stop the caravans."  The Mexican President responds, "huh? caravans are no longer coming to the US border already," and Trump says, "the Mexican President has agreed to stop the caravans."  And Trump's supporters say, "Trump has stopped the caravans!"   

Believe me, if this gets those tariffs off the table, I'm fine with it.

We are in agreement here. (don't faint on me now..lol)  I would rather not see tariffs either.  There remain a lot of people trying to come across. Yea the caravans were first, but most come from other areas. They sometimes fly into Mexico and enter from points other than the southern border from other countries with this in mind. The southern border caravans are only the tip of this iceberg. It has been easy to ignore these as it is not a good pic op.

The other major issue is on our side. We have caught people "vetting" these illegals that do not even have access to the information. So we now over the last 4 years have a mixture of vetted and those vetted without even checking in our country. It is a mesh-mash of issues down there.
