- a "huge chip on my shoulder"
- proving "everybody wrong"

And the part where he insists that not only he doesn't want to be motivated like that, but that can can't manufacture that motivation and doesn't want to.  In fact, thinking that way is a mistake.  As an NFL quarterback you don't "got to do more" you don't "got to be better."

And I heard the part where in his list of priorities, succeeding as an NFL quarterback is valued less than the idea that there is "more in life than playing football."

He wants to "maximise his potential. Who wouldn't want to?"  But his quality of play suggests he could be maximising his potential right now.

He does say that he wants "people to know what he's passionate about" but then, as shown above, he spends all the rest of his time explaining what he isn't passionate about.  Namely doing more and being better as an NFL quarterback.

It happens frequently in life, particularly in elite sports, that gifted people reach a stage where they don't have the drive and determination to lift to the ultimate competitive level.  TL, unfortunately, doesn't have that motivation.   He told everyone that before his career started.  If his freakish natural talents, particularly a cannon for an arm, can carry him over the top in the NFL then he's content.  If those talents can't lift him to the top without a new level of dedication to excellence, well then there's "more to life than playing football."

This, friends, is what is referred to as confirmation bias.

If you have a negative view of the player, you will be more than able to read negative into the things they say. If you do not have a negative view, your bias does not cloud your interpretation.

Do you really want your QB to have to invent some slight by the opposition or media to motivate them to do anything? Do you want him to be some emotionless robit that requires perfection to feel satisfied? Someone who fails to connect with their teammates because all they care about are W's? We've seen over the years that Trevor is not volatile. He keeps his emotions in check, he endures crap situations with aplomb. He's out there putting in work, playing hurt, working with coaches to get the most out of what we got. If you think he's lazy, unmotivated, or uncommitted, I'm certainly going to question your judgment.

He completely ignored the very first line. We know he's only interested in bashing the QB, it's the only time and reason he shows up here.

I want to do it because I want to be the best I can be. I want to maximize my potential.

There it is in black and white, motivation. He just ignores it so he can bleat.
