They interview BEFORE the SB but wait until after to make it official. There’s literally a period of time during the playoffs where assistants of teams in the playoffs can interview for HC openings.

Kyle Shannahan did it with the Falcons. Frank Reich with the Eagles. Kevin OcConnel and the Rams. Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson interviewed last year during the playoffs.

Just a couple off the top of my head.

If the Lions make the superbowl, should we do a friendly wager if Ben Johnson interviews with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the week prior?

I'd wager he has an offer before then, would be typical of us dragging feet and having to settle for leftovers. I believe the time for interviews would be the week leading up to wild card games.
