Think about how you talk to little boys and little girls. Boys get told how smart they are, how strong they are, how clever they are. Girls get told how pretty they are. So dads on here, next time you tell your daughter she’s pretty, tell her how freaking awesome and smart she is too!

I'm involved with my two kids at church and at cub scouts.  I never heard anyone talk to the girls (and about 1/4 of the scouts are girls now) about how pretty or cute they are. That message has been received at least in my neck of the woods.

However the social scientists are raising alarm bells with Gen Z (who are in their 20s now) that the girls have absorbed the "get as much education and professional development as possible" message but the boys have not absorbed the "your partner may be more accomplished than you and that's OK" message.  Seems we recalibrated one of the genders without recalibrating the other.  

FWIW L2L and I both are with women who are more accomplished and higher earning than us.  But the polling consistently says that most younger unattached men don't want that for themselves.

Lol, if boys absorb and believe the message that girls will still be interested in them when they are less accomplished then the vast majority of boys will be in for a rude awakening. That is not natural, goes against human biology, and more often leads to dissolution of the relationship rather than its persistence. And frankly, that message is one of the most destructive attacks against Western Civilization in the playbook of the enemy, used to create societal disharmony that the opposition exploits to disrupt our society. You and L2L might've found the unicorns, but you are extreme outliers and I think he would admit to that while you would not.

Why do men dominate chess?

I was reading a study or maybe just a discussion about this. The consensus was that many more men play chess than women, so naturally there are more high profile male chess players than females.

It was also said that when women play chess against men they feel more pressure and make mistakes they wouldn't ordinarily make, like they are expected to lose. They don't feel this pressure when playing another female. Pretty interesting

The consensus should ask how many more boys that girls WANT to play chess; that's the real difference. Same with many of the occupations that have higher male interest than female, the activist don't care what boys or girls want, they instead demand boys and girls want what the activists want. Fortunately we're getting to the point in our society that we're going to cast those activists back into the pit from out which they clawed.
