Florida law doesn’t care whether or not you thought the person you were having sexual relations with was 18 years old or older. Florida law and Florida state prosecutors care about the actual age of the victim – regardless of how old you thought they were – when it comes to sexual abuse or sexual assault charges in Florida. 

 

Even if someone knowingly provided a fake id? Are you supposed to run a background check? 
I used my cousins id in college because we could be twins. I wasn’t trying to hook up with old dudes, I just wanted to drink like every other person on campus. Should someone go to jail because I lied about my age with proof to back it up?

I don't know about drinking laws.  I didn't look that up.  But Florida does not care if you thought the person you had sex with was over 17.  Ignorance is not a defense when it comes to statutory rape in Florida.

According to the Ethics Committee report, he didn't ask her about her age, anyway.  So, there is no allegation that I have seen that she showed him a fake ID.
