No it doesn't, it belongs to Panama that in accordance with International law. Besides which to the best of my knowledge the US did not pay for nor oversee the expansion project, completed in 2022, that allows for the larger cargo ships to pass through. That's where most cargo passes, not through the old canal.

Do you not have any concerns with China potentially dominating that region in full? What that might do to our potential standing in trading out of there on our end? You don't see anything wrong with the neutrality of a crucial port system close to our country becoming completely under the control of a potential threat, enemy?
