That's just false.  It's illogical to believe that owning the 7th overall pick is just as good as the 3rd overall pick.  If nothing else, you can trade down from the 3rd pick to the 7th pick and acquire additional picks.  If you don't think having additional draft picks is an advantage in the NFL, I don't know what to say.  That's just common sense.

Also keep in mind that it affects next year's schedule.  If we win, instead of playing Chicago (4-12) and Cleveland (3-12), we will play Green Bay (11-4) and Cincinnati (8-8).  You don't think one pair of teams is a little tougher than the other?

If you want to get back to the playoffs as soon as possible, a loss today helps our odds.  That's just reality.

It's also illogical to believe the 3rd pick will have compensatory benefits the 7th doesn't when the final draft order and what prospect is/isn't available is not established. It's illogical to believe that playing one set of teams will be easier than playing the other set when it's nearly a year before those games will be played. Due to these factors you believe a loss today helps our odds return to the playoffs ASAP, that belief is, as a belief, assumptive and not logical. Therefore, it is not based in reality.
