First, I disagree that half the board thinks Trevor is Just A Guy.  I think it's just a very vocal minority.  Many pro-Trevor people don't bother arguing with stupid people.  I don't even visit the Trevor thread.

Second, even if you aren't a Trevor fan, you still have to factor the salary cap impact.  Even as a June 1st cut next year, he would be a $93.5 million cap hit in 2025.  Our team can't sustain that.  He's clearly our QB for the foreseeable future.

I guess. They are very very vocal for a while though.

Also, in the highly unlikely scenario he is not here, it would be by trade, not cut. There is still the confusion of the future year optional bonuses on the dead cap. They are not actually guaranteed yet, but will be and haven't been put into escrow yet. So in a trade that cap burden might could be taken on by another team.
