Just saw an article by Matt Miller from ESPN in which he identified draft prospects with a legitimate first round grade. This class had the lowest number in a long time with only 12 players currently worthy of this grade. The list ranks these players from 1-12. Here is his current list and rankings for each. He did say more players could be added upon further evaluation.
1. Travis Hunter
2. Abdul Carter
3. Will Johnson
4. Kelvin Banks
5. Mason Graham
6. Malachi Starks
7. Ashton Jeanty
8. Jalon Walker
9. Tyler Warren
10. Luther Burden
11. T. McMillan
12. Mykel Williams
This is just one person's opinion, however it is worth considering with respect to which direction the Jaguars should go in the draft. If the Jaguars pick 5th, it is likely Hunter will be gone. Two quarterbacks and Hunter would go in the top 4. Depending on who picks 4th, the Jaguars would likely have at least 3 of Miller's top 5 players.Carter's stock is really on the rise and he could be selected 4th, but let's say the options are Carter, Banks, Graham and Johnson. Who would be the best pick? The good news is that the Jaguars would get a very good player with a pro-bowl ceiling.
If they lose to the Colts, that would obviously eliminate at least 3 of the top 5 and possibly all 5. Of the top 12, it is possible that Will Johnson would be available and the best option, in my opinion. McMillan and Banks are also likely to be gone as the Bears need a tackle and a couple teams (Raiders and Browns) might choose McMillan. The worst scenario would be if all 5 of Miller's picks are gone. In that case, I might have to go with McMillan. Bottom line, hopefully the Jaguars will lose Sunday guaranteeing them one of the top 5 players who all play a position the Jaguars need to show much improvement in 2025-26.
