Tomlin is 8-11 in the post season which isn't great but isn't as bad as you are trying to make it sound.  Picking in the second half of the draft every single year for almost two decades makes it tough to acquire enough elite talent that's needed to push a team over the top in the playoffs.  If you think 18 straight non-losing seasons is "average", I don't think you know the definition of "average".  The NFL has a system that encourages parity.  It's extremely tough to be good for that many years without having to do a rebuild or having a bad year.  He's currently ranked 12th in NFL history in wins and he's only 52.
