Football Gameplan's 2014 Inside the War Room - Jaguars

#5

Quote:Hmm, mixed bag for me. Meh on Manziel and Storm Johnson. Loooooove Adams, Lawrence, and Aikens...even if I think it's possible/likely that all 3 are gone by the time they're mocked here. Sims a nice value in the 6th if he's there, but would probably rather gamble on the upside of Crowell or McKinnon that late in the draft. The rest of the draft is solid.

What do you see that separates Johnson, Crowell and McKinnon?

Quote:Nice video. Love the Manziel pick at #3, and your focusing on WR-needs in the 2nd round. I guess you don't think we'll be picking up a second QB in the later rounds though? Maybe one of the undrafted guys?

Still, a really well-done video, can't argue with any of the picks, and anyone on the boards who haven't watched yet, should.

Thanks JJ! I guess I could've went QB over Sims in Rd 6..what other QB you'd like to see on the roster?

Quote:Overall, nice job Em.  Here's some thoughts for maybe a later tweek if you do it again...

With the first 4th round selection, you have OT Antonio Richardson to form a bookend to Luke Joeckel.  They liked the play and development of RT Austin Pasztor last season, and Cameron Bradfield did well in his duty as the swing tackle backup.  They won't go tackle.  However, currently there is a significant need for starters at both center and right guard that will likely be addressed in the draft.  I just don't think they will wait to take a mediocre guard like Ryan Groy in the 5th round as you mocked.  Guard and center need to be addressed with starting capable players.

Preston Brown, your second 5th round selection, is a 4.8-4.9 40 guy in a defense that both Caldwell and Bradley have stated that they would like to add speed, and his best fit seems to be as an ILB.  The Jags LB opportunity seems more as an OLB.  I don't think Brown is a fit.

You have Storm Johnson mocked to the Jags in the 3rd round.  Currently on the roster, they brought in Gerhart, seem to like Todman in a backup role, and the GM has a super-fondness for the developing Denard Robinson.  They may make room for Storm, but I don't see them double dipping again at RB by taking Charles Sims in the 6th round.

The Manziel pick at the top of the draft will create excitement.  Most around here seem to be thinking to pass on the QB until the 2nd or 3rd round now, and take Watkins or Mack if Clowney is off the board.  I guess the thought is the top QBs are not ready to start right away, so may be too high to select one with the 3rd pick in round 1.  Personally, I would like to see a QB pick, due to the importance of the position.

Thanks ATL! You don't think Johnson would be better than what's currently on the roster? If Clowney is there at 3…would you take him or lets say Manziel/Bridgewater?
