The child can potentially stay with relatives provided they are also here legally, the court can make that determination along with the parents at their sentencing. You need to worry less about clutching your pearls over children and more about removing criminals from our society. Fortunately once the birthright nonsense gets to the USSC we'll get that clarified and settled that they aren't actually citizens and this issue will end entirely.
