So true. I worked on retiring some Cobol-based legacy systems during my years working for an IBM partner consulting firm. Great code at the time; and to its credit, stable even today, which is why its hung around so long.

Many of the big corporate financial and insurance companies still use it for their core systems. They were still teaching it back in the dark ages when I was in college but I’ve heard they’re trying to bring back those courses because there’s still so much legacy code out there. But of course, they’re finding very few students willing to sign up, lol.
