There are trade offs for both. Electric batteries weigh a ton and rape the landscape mining for materials. Expect to be purchasing tires more often. This puts more "tire pollution on the roads and at the recycle plant. When they get around to evaluating all things expect to pay more to register the car. The extra weight will require more road upkeep and they purchase no gas so add the tax portion to that. By the time you charge a battery at your home the T&D loss negates the efficiency saving of electric over gas. The power company will need to generate almost 2x the power. Both systems have trade offs. Personally I am looking for both to be replaced by Hydrogen burning or Hybrid Hydrogen battery cars. These have been handcuffed by the "old money" oil guys for years.
