Because I have seen therapists, and my wife has seen therapists, and they simply do not ask about politics.  
They do ask about if you have guns in the home, and that is scandalous enough. It would definitely get written up in our clickbait addicted media if they started asking about political affiliation for all their new patients.

I've been seeing therapist off and on since 1995, and everyone I've seen will ask you generalized questions to get a feel of how your emotions work and on what issues they may pertain to so..... That's how they can come up with a plan to help you with whatever issue you may be dealing with. If any therapist you've seen did not go through this process, they were not doing their job or, they were never therapist to begin with or, you're lying about ever seeing one.
