Quote:Em, I like Johnson and do believe they will bring in a 4th RB through the draft. My comment was that I do not see them taking a second RB in the draft as you have mocked.
If Clowney is available at 3, I think they would choose him very quickly (or listen to trades if someone makes a bountiful enough offer). Unfortunately, I don't think Clowney will make it out of the top 2 picks. Would I take Manziel or Bridgewater if Clowney is not there? Yes, either Manziel or Bridgewater due to the importance of the position and the glaring need. However, I think I am in a minority with that thought here, as it seems most would want Mack or Watkins in this scenario (and take the QB in the second round). The word around here seems to be that the front office does not believe Bridgewater, Manziel, or Bortles are ready to start right away, and a second tier QB to develop is not much of a drop. Although an outlier, many point out that Wilson was not a top draft pick for the Seahawks.
Mack with Bradley would be epic…His versatility is outstanding.
Quote:Lots of good value picks in there. Richardson in the 4th, Aikens in the 5th and Sims in the 6th present excellent potential for those picks, if they actually fall that far. Quite a few "experts" have Richardson in the 2nd round and Sims somewhere on day 2. Adams in the second would also be a great pick if they don't jump on Watkins at 3rd overall. I love his style of play, and I think the "volume receiver" is a position we drastically need to fill if Blackmon isn't returning.
I agree with the guys above when they point out that you have Storm Johnson much higher than most and that a RB likely won't be chosen until later. Gerhart is the guy now, and they love Denard Robinson's potential as the change of pace back. Todman was serviceable in the backup role, so I think the only way they use a pick on a RB is in a situation like you have with Sims, where his value is too high to pass in the 6th round.
There's a very good chance that the third round pick will be used on the interior line on a guy with potential to start at center or guard. Guys like Travis Swanson, Weston Richburg, Gabe Jackson, and David Yankey are names that the Jags could be considering in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as potential long-term starters. The development with Alex Mack obviously influences this, and we don't know what will happen there just yet.
Have you put out your entire seven round mock yet, or are you just getting all the team-by-team videos together first? I'd be interested to see who else you have on the board at some of these selections.
Appreciate the hard work!
Thanks Dr. Football! I see a lot of people are mixed on Yankey… I'm a big fan of Gabe Jackson; actually have him as my #2 overall player *ducks* Lol
I think defensively, you guys are right there… Offensively, 'threats' are what's needed IMHO. Do you think Robinson would be better as a wideout?
I've completed the 7 round mock but releasing it team by team…you can see a little bit of it here (
