I don't think anyone has ever said that Jaguars should select Manziel SOLELY or even PRIMARILY because of 'ticket sales' and 'jerseys'. But that it is an added bonus that not only sets him apart from every other prospect in the 2014 draft, but anyone who doesn't at least factor that in, doesn't know how much the NFL is truly a business. Certainly at some point the Jaguars brass have at least discussed the financial side of it.

 

Going from the least watched NFL team nationally(I would assume), to one of if not the most watched teams? One of the least valuable teams(according to Forbes) last year, to perhaps the highest yearly-revenues in Jaguar history next year by drafting one single guy? Going from the team most rumored to be shipped off to London, to the hottest ticket in the NFL, highest selling jersey, most popular player, etc?

That's no small thing Buns. The JAguars couldn't buy that kind of exposure if they wanted to. 

 

Listen, i'll be the first to agree with you and quote your posts that it's dumb to say lets get Johnny cause he'll sell tickets. But for a team like ours that is not only looking for a franchise QB, but in many ways a financial turnaround and economic boost to the franchise, the city, to building up our downtown, etc, Manziel could be hitting two birds with one stone.

You don't get many opportunities like this, that make the Fans happy with the most exciting player in football on the field, the Coach happy with arguably the best available QB in the draft, and the Owner happy by making him very-very rich. This is very big for a team like ours.

 

What do you think Buns? Is there any truth in that?
