If he's playing half his games in Ohio, he's forking out big money in state and local taxes for those games, plus a piece of any other games played in states/cities where they also have taxes.  Cutting half of that out of the equation, especially for a contract the size this will wind up being is a huge savings, and he'll still be able to take advantage of the loop holes and etc..
