Tebow was hyped more for his off the field antics(his christianity, his extremely likable personality, the fact that he was the hometown kid). Take all that away, say he was some drinking, pot-smoking quarterback from Missouri, and even Tim's biggest fans in Jax would likely admit that he's an average QB at best. It was his amazing off the field achievements and Jacksonvilel connections though that equaled out any limitations he had on the field.

 

To the contrary, the only 'hype' Manziel has and is getting is strictly for his on the field play.

Listen Sneaker, I'm one of the kid's biggest supporters, but I'll be the first to tell you, Manziel's not a good role model for kids, he has and likely will get in trouble off the field again, has a horrible taste in music(see pro-day for evidence), I'll be locking away my daughters if he comes to town, he's rather arrogant and very into himself, and if he wasn't good at football, there'd probably not be a lot to like about him, unless you're for some strange reason a fan of college fratboys.

 

IMO, Manziel is the most anti-Tebow prospect I've ever seen. He has so few redeeming qualities 'off the field', that you know he must be one hell of a player on the field, for people in Jacksonville and around the nation to want him so bad on their team.
