Would Khalil Mack in the top 5 feel like a "Gene Smith type of pick"?

3 & 9 are not really that close in terms of draft value.

 

If the Jags trade back add selections and get Mack at pick 6, you can't complain about that, and I wouldn't, either. 

 

But if the Jags simply take Mack at 3 and value be darned because "they fell in love with the player" then, yes, I do have an issue with that philosophy. Mack isn't the be-all end all of the top 10 in this draft. Missing out on him isn't going to ruin anyone's draft. There are enough other great players that will also be available. Never, never throw away value in the draft. Its a road to nowhere. 
 

Clearly they should not select a player where everybody has him valued.

 

What is funny is that so many on this thread are able to see exactly what you are doing.
