Mike Mayock: I wouldn’t use a first-round pick on Teddy Bridgewater

Had Mayock's opinion been similar pre and post pro day workout, then I'd have more respect for the opinion.

I dont have a problem with Teddy's stock dropping after his pro day.  If pro days were worthless they wouldnt exist.  But many times this is the only chance to see a kid throw in person.

Who is Teddy?  Is he a big guy that is going to shake off would be sacks and turn a loss into a positive play?  No.  Is he a guy who will rifle a ball 30 yards on a rope between defenders?  No.  He is a slender guy with an average arm that has great pocket awareness and wont miss a throw 15 yards or shorter.... who has had a lot of practice being a checkdown king.  So how in the world can a guy facing no pressure who needs to rely on impeccable accuracy to be a successful NFL QB struggle so badly with that very thing?  Its not like you are drafting him because of his potential to break tackles with his size and extend plays like Bortles.  Its not like you are drafting him for his bigtime arm talent like Carr.  You expect them to miss a few balls on their pro day because you arent drafting them for their amazing accuracy.  But that is what you're drafting Teddy for.  And he couldnt do it.

Its easy to dismiss it when you arent the one making the decision.  But its definitely a red flag for a GM who will lose his job if he misses on the pick.  I'm not surprised his stock has dropped.  Just like Mayock, teams will have to go back and see if they missed something on the tape.
