Mike Mayock: I wouldn’t use a first-round pick on Teddy Bridgewater

for the record, I think Mayock is wrong about Teddy. I still think he's the second best(arguably the best prototypical QB), and will definitely go in the first round. If not, it's a travesty.

That said, I feel the 'Mayock character assassination' in this thread is not only because of his words against Teddy, but his words for someone else....

Quote:Mike Mayock has been the go-to NFL draft guru for a decade now. And in those 10 years, Mayock has never seen a more intriguing or clouded quarterback draft.

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">Bottom line: Mayock believes Manziel has the 'It' factor to reward the team that selects him by one day capturing a Lombardi Trophy.

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"The kind of projection I want to make with Manziel is Steve Young,'' Mayock says, referencing the Hall of Fame San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"When Steve first came out of college and the USFL, he was a run-first quarterback who was scary good. He's a smart guy, and yet he struggled to make the best of both worlds, going through his progressions to make the easy throw…

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"Johnny's got the arm strength. He's got intelligence. He's got the wow factor. Now he's just got to learn to win by making some NFL throws from the pocket. And if you can combine the two of them, I think you have a Pro Bowl, Super Bowl-winning type of quarterback.''

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">Mayock notes that if he had to take one quarterback in this draft in the top 10, it would be Manziel.

<p style="margin-left:60px;font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.
