Quote:Pretty sure there will be a couple on here that are going to cry, but I did my homework here.
1. Bortles
2. Bridgewater
This was very tough to judge, Bortles seems to really step it up in his tougher games (not that Teddy does not, but Bortles has more of them.) 10-20 is a good range for Bortles, 15-20 for Bridgewater
3. OK, heres where I get killed
Derek Carr, improve the footwork and I see a star!! Would love to see him with a little protection and a couple speed guys!
4. Manziel
Its not that I think he will be a bad player at the next level, he may end up being the best qb in the class! However he may also end up being the biggest bust as well. I need to see him without his all-world line, and recievers.
5. Mettenberger
Great arm, good accuracy, but like Carr needs pocket work.
6
McCarron
Being a lifetime Bama fan, Ive watched him week after week. Feel like he's underrated on the boards but he's got some work to do.
Good in the pocket, spot on with the 10-20 yard throws but a little too quick to dump off to his backs.
7.Murray
size a concern, as well as batted balls. Good not great arm, I believe he could make most of the throws he would need to make at the next level. Tough player, but sometimes in the pros its better to avoid the hit and not be a hero!
8.
Garappolo
Falls here for me due to his delivery, the little almost sidearm motion. In a shotgun system it worked, but what about in a pro system?
9.Dark horse time!!
Jeff Mathews
Good arm, good vision, but another one who struggles with pressure! However in the 5th/6th round, he could be a diamond in the rough type.
10. Boyd
Came down to him and Thomas for me in the 10 spot.
Reminds me of Ponder a little (not by player type), where he looks like a future star at times, then boom he looks like a first time qb.
Remember when this draft was considered one of the better QB drafts in recent years?
While I don't think the top of the class is necessarily a lock to become elite at the next level, there's a ton of depth in this draft where teams like the Jaguars will be presented with multiple options. None of the QBs are flawless, but a good number of them could develop into very good QBs in the NFL given the chance to do so.
Your list is a confirmation that there isn't a total stud in the draft that's going to walk in and be that franchise guy. It also shows how deep this draft could be. The Jaguars are going to wind up with 2 names from your list. If they aren't part of the top 3 (Bortles, Bridgewater, or Manziel), it won't be the end of the world.
Nice analysis.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
