Bridgewater with the 3rd pick
|
Quote:http://sports.yahoo.com/news/teddy-bridg...27675.html That was a good article until it became an indictment about racism. I don't think that's what is driving down his draft stock. I think what has happened with Bridgewater is he is a victim of the media hype machine. They want to create these impressions about players being better than they actually are, over-hyping them in the media only to tear them back down after the fact when they don't necessarily match the hype they created. I've never disqualified Bridgewater as a lesser QB. He has all of the intangibles you want. He's got a great football IQ, he's poised, he's able to read defenses and make all the passes. My only real rub on him is the level of competition he's faced, and of course the slight build. Both of which are genuinely minor concerns, but still enough that, if I was picking, I wouldn't take him at 3. If he lands in the right situation (which Jacksonville very well could be), he can prove to be a very good starting QB in the league. Or, he lands somewhere that has a mess of a line and no receivers, and he becomes another missed opportunity. I hate that this article brought race into it because I don't think that's what is at play. I think it's just a matter of media hacks over selling the product, then having to backtrack once they started getting feedback from the people who actually make the decisions like scouts and GMs around the league. They're not going to admit they're wrong, so they have to come up with some reason why his draft stock has fallen (assuming it's fallen as far as some of them are trying to spin it.). Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
