Being more polished than the list above is a nice thing, but I don't think it's a guarantee of success at the next level, especially when you're talking about a guy who is not built to take a beating in the NFL.  I'm not sure how durable Bridgewater is going to be when he's getting pounded by 260-300+ lb linemen repeatedly.

 

Yeah I agree. But, then you could consider Luke Joeckel a reach because he was taken as a "RT" but then 2nd quarter of the season he is starting LT. I think if we take Teddy let him sit a few games then put him in. Totally, It is definitely no guarantee, but I believe the chance of success might be greater than someone who doesn't possess the traits Bridgewater possesses.

Leftwich wasn't the prototypical black QB.  Big, slow footed, pocket passer, hardly athletic.  He could read defenses with the best of them, which was good because the slow feed and the long windup required something to compensate.  He'd make quick decisions, then go through the long motion of getting the ball out.

 

Bridgewater has the same ability to read defenses and to make quick decisions.  He's got a quicker release and better footwork, but he's still more of a traditional pocket passing QB.  He's smaller than Leftwich, but he has the same kind of small hands.  Heck, Leftwich wore a size 8 shoe.

 

Like I said, if Bridgewater lands in the right situation, he will be a very good QB.  He could even develop into elite talent with time.  But, he could also turn out to be a huge flop.  We'll see.

 

If the Jags took him at 3, I wouldn't be running to the old Modis Building to get in line.  I think he could do well here given time.  He just wouldn't be my first option at #3. 

 

I think sometimes we also forget how Bridgewater can run too. Poor Byron. A turtle could run faster than him. Yeah he wouldn't be my first option either. If Clowney is there, forget about it. But, Im not really in favor of drafting a WR at 3 or an OLB at 3. I think we have so many selections and this is going to be a deep draft class, and no one knows where the heck these QB's are going to be drafted (Values are all over the place). Take Teddy, he has all of those desirable traits that you mentioned. The next Luck or Manning probably won't be in the draft for another 10 years. You can win without a Luck or Manning type QB, and most teams have.
