Mike Mayock: I wouldn’t use a first-round pick on Teddy Bridgewater

Quote:I would ask you to define 'mobility' Swag.

1)Do you mean mobility in 'running straight ahead', like Michael Vick, Cam Newton or RG3?

2)Or do you mean mobility in 'keeping the play alive behind the line scrimmage' before the throw?

If you're speaking about number 2, I would agree with you to a degree. But if you're saying number 1, that MAnziel's 'best' attribute is his straight running ability, I would humbly disagree.

Johnny had almost identical completion percentage to Teddy last year. 71% to 69.9% if I remember correctly.

Johnny had more yards 'per pass' than Teddy

Johnny had a higher passer efficiency of the two

Johnny overall had more yards passing on the year

Johnny had less sacks than Teddy did last year

Not to mention a higher QBR too.

And none of that has anything to do with his running in the open field. Again tho, apologies if you were talking about mobility in regards to him keeping the play alive for a few more seconds before the throw, because if that, then I do agree with you. That is his trademark, not as some think, his strictly his downfield running ability.

"Johnny had almost identical completion percentage to Teddy last year. 71% to 69.9% if I remember correctly." His completion percentage will not translate to the NFL, he throws to wide open WRs after running around for 5-10 seconds, Teddy makes quick reads and gets the ball to the WR on time and accurately.

"Johnny had more yards 'per pass' than Teddy" Teddy didn't have a 6'5 WR to throw the ball up in double coverage who could come down with it.

"Johnny had a higher passer efficiency of the two" Again, because he did have the ability to extend plays in college, I do not see this working well in the NFL.

"Johnny overall had more yards passing on the year"  That means absolutely nothing, he did throw the ball deep more often, he ran a college spread type offense with a huge first round WR on his team who could catch anything.

"Johnny had less sacks than Teddy did last year" Not only does Manziels mobility help him in this category, he also has played with 2 OT's that have/will go in the top 10 of their respective drafts.

To answer your initial question, yes I meant his mobility not only to take off with the ball, but to avoid pass rushers and to bide time.
