Surprised there's such a debate between what La Canfora and what O'Halloran are saying. They're saying completely different things. La Canfora's saying that they'd be willing to give up a 2nd day pick and assume the full contract, after negotiating. O'Halloran's saying that's not what they offered.

 

That's typically how negotiations work. The Browns wouldn't just offer the 2nd day pick and assumption of the full contract off the bat; they'd offer a lower deal and then the Jags would try and negotiate a better deal for the team. The Browns, according to La Canfora, would be willing to negotiate down all the way to the 2nd day pick and the contract before deciding that was too much. But the negotiations never got to the point where that was an offer.

 

Whether La Canfora's sources are accurate or not is a different matter. But, trying to argue that La Canfora's claim is contradicted by O'Halloran's or vice versa is ridiculous. They're arguing completely different things.
