As a passing offense, all those "elite" stats you like to cherry pick landed us where as a unit?

Overall, among all NFL QBs in 2007, David Garrard rated out at 18 based on passing yards (2,507).  Again, below average.

 

You're more than welcome to celebrate those 5 stats in order to prop up your laughable assertion that Garrard was an elite QB in 2007.  He was 22nd in passing attempts and 21st in completions, meaning the team he was playing for didn't trust him enough to throw the ball more.  His average per attempt tied him with another elite QB, Seneca Wallace.  Yards per game?  Ranked 17th.  TDs?  15th.  Pass plays over 20 and over 40 yards?  Ranked 16th for both.  Attempts per game?  32nd.  He had backup QBs ranked ahead of him.

 

Cherry picking 5 stats masks the reality for what actually transpired in 2007.  Garrard had a very efficient 2007.  He didn't throw a lot of interceptions because he was terrified of making mistakes.  Anyone who watched games on a regular basis saw a guy who was extremely careful, and didn't trust himself enough to let the ball go more than he did for fear he'd throw a pick.  He'd see a receiver coming open, pat the ball, and look for an outlet. 

 

David Garrard's "elite" stats you love to tout were nothing but fools gold.  That was proven out in subsequent years. 

 

You like to throw the term "fluke" out there.  If you look at Garrard's entire body of work, 2007 was a fluke.  Everything else during his career on either side of 2007 proves that.
