There's no myth. You always select the best player available regardless of position each and every time  you pick.

 

You think you know what your needs are. You draft a guy that might be the fourth or fifth ranked by position.

 

What you turn a blind eye to is the fact that you passed up on a much more talented player at another position.

OG Larry Warford 88.3

DB Dwayne Gratz 62.1

 

These numbers represent the level of talent each player has according to NFL scouting experts.

Warford (by grade) is on page one. Gratz (by grade) is on page ten.

 

According to talent grades there were two hundred and twelve spaces in between Warford and Gratz. The difference in talent is ridiculous.

 

This happens all the time with the so called needs drafting method. Caldwell took Ace Sanders instead of Brian Schwenke.

 

You want to draft needs then cry about the fact that we have six consecutive non-winning seasons. And what's the [BLEEP] story? We aren't talented enough.
