Jag vets likely to be cut before the 2014 season

#64

Quote: Branch maybe cut If does not step up. I think Ryan Davis make it difficult for him to get on the field this year. I do think Prosinski is gone for sure especially with

Joe Legefield-Young & Sherrod Martin on the roster. Martin is a hidden gem that played for Carolina and has starting experience. Young also did the same for Indi. Caldwell did his homework on them both. Either one has the chance to start at FS. That would leave Prosinski fighting for a roster spot and I don't think he will make the cut. Rackley might not want to answer his door at training camp either. But to be honest the Draft will paint a perfect picture on the positions to watch for cuts.

Branch had five sacks in the second half of the season. It sounds like he's turned a corner.

I'm not so sure about Pros being cut short of training camp because he's not a big money player, that is, unless offseason roster space becomes an issue. Uche's release sent a message that anybody can be cut, but short of allowing them to compete for a spot I'd only expect pricey vets to be cut, but there aren't many players left whose release would free up at least $2 mil. I'll list the players with their savings and resulting dead money if released...

Marcedes - $5.45 mil savings with $2.8 dead money in the books (trade appear possible)

Posluzney - $5.5 mil savings with $4 mil dead money (Poz of course is safe, and his dead money figure would probably be too high anyways)

Roy Miller - $2.65 mil savings with $250,000 dead money

Babin - $2.6 mil savings with $500,000 dead money

Scobee - $2.313 mil savings with $1.875 mil dead money (of course Scobee is safe, although the Titans cut Bironas)

As for Rackley, his release would save $1.43 mil with $155,000 dead money.

As for Alualu, his release would save $1.18 mil with $3.09 mil dead money. (this is a lot of dead money to carry)

As for Prosinski, his release would save $735,000 with $105,000 dead money.
(cutting OT Sam Young or S Sherrod Martin would save more)

Branch appears safe as his release would save a hair over $300,000, which isn't much when you consider there are a ton of guys whose entire $570,000 or $645,000 salary would be saved if released. Branch's release would also leave $1.07 mil in the books as dead money.
