If we pass on Manziel at 3 and he ends up being great....

Quote:He wouldn't even be one of the ones no one saw coming, like Wilson or Brees or Roethlisberger, or Rodgers. He would have been right there known to the world and we passed on him.I highlighted the key phrase of your OP, and you're 100% correct. The Jaguars have never been in this position. All the players we hated passing on have all been in hindsight. "If we only knew", "if only this quarterback had been more well-known or widely considered worthy of a top 10 pick". Vino's right, there's no hindsight here. Manziel's been the best player in college football for 2 years now. He's the most popular, statistically the best, and at this point, if there's any 'consensus' number 1 QB in the draft, he's the closest we're going to get this year. I myself can only think to compare this year to 2011, when there was a now silly but at the time very serious rumor that Panthers were actually considering passing on Cam Newton. If they had, it'll probably still be a punchline against their franchise to this very day. In fact if any of you need a good laugh, go back and do a google search for the 2011 mock drafts that don't have Carolina taking Cam at 1, the arguments sound hilariously or perhaps terrifyingly similar to arguments made on these boards for the Jags to pass on Manziel. Quote:<div>Six weeks away from the 2011 NFL draft, here is a look at how the first round could shake out: </div> Quote: Cam Newton is a definite possibility here, but ultimately, the Panthers will decide he is too risky and go with Dareus as the No. 1 overall pick. <div> Quote:<div>1: Carolina Panthers : Cam Newton: QB, Auburn -The more I read the more I firmly believe that the Panthers will take a huge gamble and select Newton on April 28. Owner Jerry Richardson will see the controversial signal caller as a big ticket item that will bring fans into the stadium....Nonetheless, Newton’s unlimited upside is undeniable, but I think that his lack of maturity and off the field issues make him a huge bust canidate. Rumor has it that aside from Newton the Panthers like AJ Green and Patrick Peterson, so those would be my choices if they pass on Newton. </div> </div> food for thought.....imagine Carolina next year without Cam Newton, that could be you Jaguars
I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.
