That being said, the mere promise of a better product won't increase demand. Hype like what Jones and Tebow had doesn't put people in the seats, but living up to that hype would have.

 

Drafting Manziel won't fill the stands. Drafting Manziel and him living up to Johnny Football would fill the stands and you wouldn't need people flying in from Texas to make that happen. Having a product worthy of people in Jacksonville getting off their couches or worthy of traveling from central Florida and south Georgia would be enough.

 

Understood, but if you want to maintain a proper scaling of the stadium for the market, you can't lean as much on fluctuations (small as they actually are) based on one player or coach being brought in.  You're supporting that premise as well based on the last paragraph.  Drafting Manziel isn't going to fix anything.  If he succeeds, it will help fill the seats. It's still not going to change the fact that the stadium needs to be the size it is with the tarps in place.  If they were building a stadium today for this market, it would be smaller than the one we have currently with the tarps.  It would probably be 6-7000 seats smaller.
