Good video to watch if you haven't. The presser is good.

After watching the presser, and gaining some additional insight into their process, and their mindset for what they were looking for if they went QB with their first pick, I'm comfortable with the pick. They got their guy, and they feel confident he's going to be their QB for the next decade.

One thing Gus and Dave both mentioned was that Bortles came into this process open to coaching, and willing to take the constructive criticism and work on addressing those issues. They loved the fact that he's passionate about the game, which is something Gus has mentioned repeatedly since coming to Jax as one of the main criteria he looks for. Gus mentioned that they want players who are willing to accept their flaws, and are committed to working on fixing those issues. Both guys said they felt he was genuine in his responses,

The fact that Dave managed to poll the scouts and coaches to get their feedback, and the consensus was that Bortles should be the guy if they went QB was also interesting to me. They brought every QB prospect worth noting to Jax for workouts, and he was the one that got a unanimous thumbs up from the entire staff. That speaks volumes for me.

We will see if this pick pans out. I'm hopeful it does. If we wind up with a Roethlisberger type player who is our QB for a decade or more, I'm fine with that. I think most fans will be. But, we need to be patient and let him develop. They're clearly in no hurry to rush him out there.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
