Again.....just like the Gerhart selection, if you've been paying attention (which I wasn't) this pick shouldn...

Quote:To be truthful, with all the Mack and Watkins talk the past week, I kinda had myself expecting a pick of either, or a trade down with Detroit with them taking Watkins.

A trade down was my biggest hope. SInce I figured we'd still get a good player at 10 ish and then get more picks.

I like Bortles size, but I gotta be honest....he just doesn't wow me on the footage. He looks just ordinary.

I'll give it a chance though. I will.

TMD,  like I expressed on the MB, the other day,    a trade with the Jaguars and Lions wasn't realistic based on the worth of pick # 3 to the Jaguars and Martin Mayhew not being the type of GM that would pay a heavy price to trade up in Round 1.    The only way a trade was possibly going to happen is if the Jaguars were clearly comfortable going down to pick # 10 and the price for the Lions to trade up was noticably lower than on the points trade chart that Jimmy Johnson brought to Dallas and the NFL.

Now that we know that Blake Bortles was the Jaguars target with pick # 3,   it's fair to say that it was too risky for the Jaguars to trade down if Bortles was far above the other QB's on the Jaguars draft board.   Being that I projected the Browns to draft Bortles with pick # 4 in the 100 player Mock Draft I posted on the MB on Wednesday,  I totally understand and respect the Jaguars decision to keep pick # 3.     I'm going under the assumption that the Jaguars value Bortles more than the package that the Bills gave the Browns to move up from pick # 9 to pick # 4.    Considering how much the Bills paid the Browns,  it speaks volumes how much Dave Caldwell likes Bortles as an NFL prospect.   Like with all draft decisions,  time will tell if Caldwell was correct.
